Exploring the Possibilities of a New Freight Corridor from India to Europe via Armenia, Says Vahan Kerobyan
According to the first six months of data, the number of newly opened companies in Armenia is 5,400, with the majority of founders being Armenian citizens, followed by those from Russia, and third, citizens of Iran. This was stated by the Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan during a conversation with reporters.
“I see that the cooperation is proceeding very well. Various products are being manufactured, including food and construction materials,” he said.
When asked whether we can have significant trade volumes with India but face communication issues, Kerobyan acknowledged, “Yes, there are communication issues. They have not yet been refined, and logistics is not easy.”
“I agree that trade with India has great potential. You know that, by our proposal, a working group has been established by the Prime Minister’s decree to examine the possibilities for creating a new fast freight corridor from India to Europe. There have been previous attempts at this. I am the head of the group, and our goal is to make it possible for goods to move from India to Armenia and then to Europe as quickly and cheaply as possible. I believe that by the end of the year, we will have clear proposals on how to establish this fast freight corridor from both India and Armenia to Europe, which will go through Iran,” Vahan Kerobyan added.
