What Charges Have Been Filed Against Kidnapped Vagif Khachatryan?
The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan has filed charges against 68-year-old Vagif Khachatryan, who was kidnapped by representatives of the country's border service. The charges are based on articles 103 "Genocide" and 107 "Forced Migration or Displacement of Population" of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
If convicted under these articles, Vagif Khachatryan could face up to 20 years of imprisonment or even life sentence.
It is noteworthy that on July 29, Vagif Khachatryan was being transferred from Artsakh to Armenia for medical assistance under the escort of the International Committee of the Red Cross when he was abducted by Azerbaijani border service representatives.
