I Cannot Stand By While My Country is Being Torn Apart: Israeli President
Israel is at a point of no return, and Benjamin Netanyahu's government must abandon legal reforms in the country. This was stated by President Isaac Herzog in a televised address to the nation, as reported by RIA Novosti.
"It is a flawed, thieving bill that undermines our democratic values. It must be replaced with an agreed-upon project, and that needs to happen immediately," the state leader said.
Herzog also declared that he can no longer watch his country being 'torn apart' before his eyes.
It is noteworthy that the emergency televised address followed another day of mass protests in Israel, during which demonstrators blocked major highways and also obstructed the road leading to Ben Gurion Airport.
