«We did not commit genocide unlike the Armenians». Aliyev once again distorts the facts

For almost two and a half years, we have been restoring a vast territory of 10,000 square kilometers, which has been completely devastated.

This was stated by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, during the opening ceremony of the 10th Global Forum titled «Peace Today: Challenges and Hopes» held in Baku. He noted, "By the way, representatives of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center visited Shusha (the actual name is Shushi), and I held discussions there as well. The devastations were seen in Fuzuli (the actual name is Varanda), in Shusha (the actual name is Shushi). This is truly a sign of barbarism. It is urbicide, culturalocide, ecocide. And all this has been done by our neighbors. The people of Azerbaijan have the moral right to seek revenge, and I understand that. But the essence of my words is that we took our revenge on the battlefield. We did not commit war crimes unlike the Armenians. We did not commit genocide unlike the Armenians; rather, we sought revenge on the battlefield. So, the time for peace has come," said the authoritarian leader of Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that for already 88 days, Azerbaijani so-called eco-activists have been effectively holding the 120,000 Armenian residents of Nagorno-Karabakh captive.
