I Cannot Say that We Have Guaranteed Our Country's Security Today. Pashinyan in Berlin

Armenia is in a very dangerous security environment. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a meeting with representatives of the Armenian community after his working visit to Germany.

"I cannot say that today we have guaranteed our country's security, especially in these conditions, where geopolitical earthquakes and solutions are taking place. But on the other hand, we also have an understanding of what needs to be done to manage this security environment," said Pashinyan.

In this context, the Prime Minister emphasized that the peace agenda is very important for Armenia, noting that for Armenia it is "not an easy story"—there are many risks, and peace does not solely depend on Armenia.

The Prime Minister highlighted that others also desire peace, but their notion of peace does not coincide with any peace that Armenia seeks. Therefore, the entire purpose of the diplomatic process should be to achieve the establishment of peace, and the meaning behind it should be that it occurs.

"Overall, I must say that we are in a very difficult and dangerous period. We are required to be extremely serious and flexible in order to overcome the existing challenges," said Pashinyan.

He assured that Armenia does not have deep economic problems, nor does it have issues in terms of internal security and democracy. The problems facing Armenia are external and related to the external environment and security.

"In these conditions, we do not have good news, but in a bad environment, the good news is that there is a certain international attention focused on Armenia and the region, and we must be able to harness that attention for the purpose of achieving long-term solutions and peace in the region," the Prime Minister added.

It should be noted that the Prime Minister traveled to Berlin with his wife, Anna Hakobyan, and his daughter, Shushan Pashinyan. The visit is a working one. He met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. After the negotiations, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the German Chancellor held a joint press conference. Pashinyan also visited the German Council on Foreign Relations and met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
