Ship Carrying Russian Oil Departing from Azerbaijan Detained in Albania; Crew Arrested

The Albanian police, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, has detained a ship carrying Russian oil that had departed from Azerbaijan in the port of Durres. This information has been reported by Azerbaijani media.

"During the operation, 22 crew members were arrested. The volume of confiscated oil amounted to 22,500 tons, with a market value of approximately 40 million euros. The ship was sailing under the Liberian flag, but the ownership has not been disclosed. The crew members claimed that the oil was loaded in the Greek port of Kalamata from another vessel. However, this was not sufficient to convince Albanian authorities. Albania has joined the European Union sanctions against Moscow, which prohibit the transfer of Russian oil to European ports on tankers," the media reported.
