Erdogan on Upcoming Presidential Elections in Turkey
Turkey's President Tayyip Erdogan announced at a rally in the southern province of Denizli that he is legally entitled to run in the forthcoming presidential elections, as reported by TRT.
The Turkish president responded to claims made by opposition political figures regarding his right to seek a third term following Turkey's transition from a parliamentary system to a presidential government in 2018.
"Turkey chose a new governance system in the 2018 elections. The terms (presidential terms) have been reset. The president elected in 2018 is the first president under the new governance system," he stated.
