Video: Security Staff Tried to Take Serbian Flag from Fans During Tennis Tournament, Mistaking It for Russian Flag
During a match at the Australian Open tennis tournament in Melbourne, a security staff member attempted to take a Serbian flag from a fan, mistaking it for a Russian flag. This was reported by the Daily Mail.
Footage shows the man flipping through various flags and demanding that fans hand over the flags they brought with them. Sports fans, in response, accused him of racism and questioned whether he knows where Serbia is located.
“An American flag, that’s what you should ban,” quoted a fan in the Mail Online.
It is noteworthy that on January 17, Australia's tennis federation banned fans from bringing Russian flags into the stands. The Belarusian national flag has also come under similar restrictions.
