Aliyev Accuses Armenia
Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev, during a meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart Gitanas Nausėda at the World Economic Forum in Davos, accused Armenia of exploiting the events surrounding the Lachin corridor, TASS reports.
He stated that Armenia is using the events occurring on the Lachin corridor to mislead the international community and claims based on false information that the road is supposedly closed. President Ilham Aliyev noted that the road is open. “The free movement of citizens and civilian cargo, as well as humanitarian supplies, is ensured through the International Committee of the Red Cross,” the Azerbaijani leader's press service reported on Wednesday.
Aliyev emphasized the importance of stopping the illegal exploitation of Azerbaijan's natural resources in areas where Russian peacekeeping forces are temporarily stationed and the removal of criminal elements from there. He also mentioned that “the Armenian side has been using the Lachin corridor for over two years to transport mines, ammunition, and personnel.”
