Confirmation from Artsakh: Meeting Held with Azerbaijani Side - Details
Confirmation from Artsakh indicates that representatives of the Nagorno-Karabakh authorities met with Azerbaijani representatives regarding the Lachin issue yesterday, as announced earlier today by Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. According to him, the commander of the Russian peacekeeping mission, Volkov, was present at the meeting.
Sergey Lavrov also claimed that the issue of opening the road will soon be resolved. However, Arthur Harutyunyan, the head of the ruling faction 'Free Homeland-KMD' in the Artsakh parliament, stated in an interview with 'Azatutyun' that no agreement was reached. He did not elaborate on who participated in the meeting.
The news outlet inquired: 'Sergey Lavrov said that a meeting took place between Armenians and Azerbaijanis with Volkov’s participation and expressed hope that the road will be opened soon. Are you aware of when the meeting occurred, who participated, and if there is indeed an agreement that would lead to the opening of the road?' Harutyunyan responded, stating, 'To my knowledge, the meeting took place on Monday, and there is currently no agreement.'
When asked about possible resolutions, Harutyunyan replied that he had no such information, emphasizing that it is clear that there is no agreement in place. Earlier, Russia's foreign minister had a phone conversation with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, where he emphasized the need for the prompt restoration of full traffic through the Lachin corridor based on the criteria of the November 9 declaration.
