Turkey's Erdoğan: Armenia Will Appreciate This Historic Opportunity

“A chance has emerged to establish stable peace in the region after many years, and we hope that Armenia will appreciate this historic opportunity,” stated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during a conversation with journalists on his return flight from Azerbaijan.

“The delineation of borders, the opening of the road between Nakhchivan and western Azerbaijan, and the signing of a peace treaty will be important steps for normalization in the region,” Erdoğan asserted.

When discussing the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, the Turkish president once again linked the process to progress in negotiations between Yerevan and Baku. “Undoubtedly, progress in Azerbaijani-Armenian negotiations will positively contribute to the process of normalizing relations between Turkey and Armenia. We are determined to strengthen our cooperation with our brotherly Azerbaijan in all areas under the motto 'One Nation, Two States,'” said Turkey's leader.
