US to Borrow $40 Billion from China to Aid Ukraine, Says Senator
Senator Rand Paul from Kentucky has announced that the United States will have to borrow money from China to provide a record $40 billion aid package to Ukraine, according to Breitbart.
The senator emphasized that the US budget lacks the funds necessary to fulfill its commitments to Kyiv. “I think it's important to know that we have no money to send; we need to borrow from China to send funds to Ukraine,” Paul stated.
He argued that borrowing money to provide military assistance to another country is unwarranted. The senator believes that many would agree with this debt, including Republicans, if the funds were allocated to support new social programs instead. However, in a situation where the discussion revolves around providing military aid to another country, it is hardly justified, the politician insists.
Earlier, it was reported that US President Joe Biden would sign a bill during his visit to Asia to grant Ukraine approximately $40 billion in additional assistance.
Prior to this, Paul had single-handedly blocked the passage of a bill in Congress to provide nearly $40 billion in aid to Ukraine.
