Putin Does Not Want War with NATO, Says US Defense Secretary
Russian President Vladimir Putin does not want war with NATO. This was stated by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, according to Bloomberg.
He doubts that Russia will escalate the conflict, for instance, by attacking missile facilities in Poland, as Putin aims to avoid confrontation with the NATO alliance. “This is a fight that he really doesn’t want,” Austin said.
“This could quickly morph into another type of confrontation that nobody wants to see,” he added.
Austin emphasized the importance of tracking American weapons sent to Ukraine to ensure they do not go off course. “Accountability is important for all of us,” he remarked.
