Germany Reports DDoS Attacks by Russian Hackers on Government Websites
Russian hackers have carried out a series of DDoS attacks on Germany's government websites, according to the dpa agency citing Der Spiegel. Specifically, the portals of the Ministry of Defense, the Bundestag, the federal police, and several police services from federal states were targeted. Additionally, Chancellor Olaf Scholz's website was temporarily unavailable.
The responsibility for the attacks has been claimed by the Russian hacker group Killnet, which published a corresponding message on their Telegram channel. According to Spiegel, this was done as a protest against the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
The Federal Office for Information Security reported that such attacks are not particularly complex from a technological standpoint and can be easily repelled using standard technologies.
