Simonyan's Election as Speaker of the National Assembly Complies with the Constitution: Constitutional Court
The Constitutional Court announced today, April 29, that based on a petition from at least one-fifth of the deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, it has made a decision regarding the compliance of the National Assembly's decision AJO-01-A dated August 2, 2021, with the Constitution. The court concluded that the decision is in accordance with the Constitution.
It is noted that according to this decision, Alen Simonyan has been elected as the Speaker of the National Assembly.
The Constitutional Court states: “In accordance with the second part of Article 170 of the Constitution, this decision is final and enters into force upon publication. The decision will be published on the website of the Constitutional Court within three days.”
Thus, Alen Simonyan's election as Speaker of the National Assembly is in compliance with the Constitution.
