A Law on Entry, Exit, and Stay of Foreigners in Russia Will Be Adopted - Medvedev
Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has announced that a law will soon be adopted to regulate the entry, exit, and stay of foreigners in the Russian Federation, RIA Novosti reports.
During a meeting of the interdepartmental commission on improving state migration policy under the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Medvedev emphasized the need to analyze existing international agreements and assess their compliance with this draft law. According to him, this work is already underway, but adjustments must be made.
He added that in the current situation, it might be wise to refrain from concluding new agreements unless "they are driven by urgent necessity." Previously, Medvedev stated that every migrant entering the country must collect necessary biometric data. He had indicated that the state should clearly understand who is entering, for what duration, and with what intentions.
In this context, Medvedev highlighted the need to modernize the registration system for foreigners entering the country, as noted by the Migration Committee.
