UN Secretary-General Discusses Putin Contacts with Erdogan
On Wednesday, UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone conversation, the Turkish president's office announced to reporters.
During the talks, Secretary-General Guterres informed President Erdogan about his communications with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, the office highlighted.
On Monday, Guterres met with Erdogan in Ankara. On Tuesday, he held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow and was received by the Russian president.
Upon arriving in the Polish city of Rzeszów on Wednesday, Guterres met with Polish President Andrzej Duda and is set to travel to Ukraine, where he will meet with Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and President Volodymyr Zelensky. The main agenda in Kyiv is scheduled for Thursday, April 28.
The key topics of Guterres's discussions were diplomatic efforts to establish a ceasefire and the organization of humanitarian aid under UN auspices, primarily in Mariupol.
