UN Secretary-General Understands Moscow's Claims
The UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that he understands Moscow's claims regarding Ukraine and security in Europe, and believes these issues need to be resolved. TASS reported on this matter.
“I understand that Russia has a number of grievances concerning the events taking place in Ukraine, as well as regarding European and global security... (these issues) should be resolved based on various documents proposed by the UN Charter,” said Guterres.
The conversation between Putin and Guterres lasted about an hour. The fact that the UN Secretary-General met with the Russian President was announced earlier today. Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov previously informed about the intention of political figures to hold negotiations in the Kremlin. He also mentioned that the UN Secretary-General is set to visit Russia to meet with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
