One Must Be Naive to Think that Turkey's Chief Diplomat's Gesture is Coincidental: Hayk Marutyan
Former Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan wrote on his Facebook page: “Today we commemorate the memory of the holy martyrs of the Great Genocide. Even 107 years after the beginning of this calamity, the existential threat has not disappeared for us. The successor of the state that committed genocide today, behind a facade of peace and peaceful intentions, struggles to hide its true feelings about our tragedy and, ultimately, its goals related to us.
One must be naive to think that the gesture of Turkey's chief diplomat is coincidence or a result of confusion. This official represents a state that shows no signs of remorse or restitution for its crimes, but rather glorifies and awards the principal perpetrators of the Great Genocide.
Not seeing these blatant and obvious signals in relations with Turkey could lead us to a new tragedy. Eternal memory to our innocent martyrs, strength and wisdom to us, the living.”
