We Must Continue to Arm Ukraine So It Does Not Lose: Borrell

The EU does not want Ukraine to suffer defeat in its conflict with Russia and will continue to provide it with weaponry, said Josep Borrell, the EU’s foreign policy chief, during a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

According to information from RIA Novosti, he remarked, “In this Parliament, they told me that it is necessary to stop the conflict as soon as possible, which requires ceasing to arm Ukraine. But if everything ends with a devastated and defeated country with millions of refugees and thousands of casualties, then we do not want that, so we must continue to arm Ukraine.”

The European diplomacy head also stated that the one billion euros allocated by the EU for financing military aid to the Ukrainian army is “not a significant amount considering how much the EU spends daily on fuel purchases from the Russian Federation.”
