Azerbaijan Urged to Withdraw Troops Immediately
The head of the European Parliament's delegation for relations with the South Caucasus, Mairena Kalyurand, held a video call with Javanshir Feyziyev, co-chair of the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. According to Armenpress, the European Parliament's website released this information.
Kalyurand expressed her concern regarding Azerbaijan's aggressive military incursion into Nagorno-Karabakh last week, which constitutes a violation of the ceasefire agreement dated November 9, 2020.
The head of the European Parliament's delegation for relations with the South Caucasus urged an immediate withdrawal of forces from the contact line, in accordance with the calls from all three co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
“I also reminded of the European Parliament's resolution from March 10, 2022, regarding the destruction of cultural heritage in Nagorno-Karabakh and emphasized the necessity of Azerbaijan's urgent permission for UNESCO's planned independent technical mission to enter the region and carry out its work without hindrance. I welcomed the statement regarding the meeting of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the President of the European Council scheduled for April 6 in Brussels, and expressed hope that the EU would be able to contribute to the establishment of lasting peace in the region. I urged Azerbaijan to refrain from any unilateral actions that could disrupt these efforts.
Moreover, it is equally important to voice my concerns and to seek additional information regarding a significant confiscation ruling in the United Kingdom concerning funds that were laundered from the accounts of close family members of Mr. Feyziyev through a so-called Azerbaijani money laundering scheme,” Kalyurand stated.
