Will Goris Have a New Mayor? Aram Vardevanyan
If Arush Arushanyan is unable to lead the Goris community after appealing to the Court of Appeals and the Court of Cassation, the already elected council will elect a new mayor from its ranks. This was stated by constitutional lawyer and member of the "Armenia" parliamentary faction, Aram Vardevanyan, in an interview with NEWS.am.
"There can be no talk of new elections or the appointment of an interim head, as there is an elected council. The question arises if the council is unable to elect a new mayor. However, according to Arush Arushanyan, the scenario of not leading the community is the worst because the appeals to the Court of Appeals and the Court of Cassation must be exhausted first," Vardevanyan noted.
According to Vardevanyan, in any case, this issue should become the subject of examination by the Constitutional Court.
Recall that the Syunik regional court of general jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Gnel Gasparyan, published the ruling today, March 28, regarding the case of Arush Arushanyan and others, according to which Arush Arushanyan was acquitted of the charges brought against him after the elections.
