International Attention Needed for the Situation in Artsakh, Tatoyan Urges Journalists
The Azerbaijani authorities are implementing a policy of ethnic cleansing in Artsakh through acts of terrorism. This was stated by the former Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, on his Facebook page.
“This is a genocidal policy based on ethnic and religious grounds against more than 100,000 residents of Artsakh. Gunfire is directed at villages and people's homes, and the entire population is deprived of gas (for heating and hot water) including hospitals, schools, and so on. Through incursions and psychological terror, along with threats of violence, people are forced to leave their homes, among other things,” he wrote.
“The situation in Artsakh must be kept under immediate international attention and prevent its isolation from the outside world. Human rights and people's security cannot be ignored; the Azerbaijani authorities carry out their genocidal policy specifically through the isolation of Artsakh.”
“Today, I spoke with several international journalists to keep this issue in the spotlight,” Tatoyan added.
