Meeting in Antalya Discusses Armenia-Azerbaijan Border Situation

Within the framework of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

They addressed the humanitarian situation in Artsakh. In this regard, Minister Mirzoyan emphasized the need for the unconditional repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians illegally held in Azerbaijan, as well as securing unhindered access for international humanitarian organizations in Nagorno-Karabakh. He also highlighted the importance of preserving Armenian cultural and religious heritage in areas now under Azerbaijani control.

Ararat Mirzoyan presented the situation created by Azerbaijan's violations of the ceasefire regime along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and in Nagorno-Karabakh, drawing attention to Azerbaijan's attempts to exert psychological pressure on the civilian population in Artsakh and to create artificial obstacles in the restoration of critical infrastructure.

Both sides underscored the importance of implementing measures aimed at de-escalating the situation. They exchanged views on the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey. The interlocutors also discussed issues of regional and international security and stability.
