Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Regarding the Gross Violation of the Ceasefire Regime by Azerbaijani Armed Forces
On March 7, a soldier of the Armenian Armed Forces, Sergeant Hratch Arami Manasyan, was killed due to a gross violation of the ceasefire regime by the Azerbaijani armed forces in the western direction of the Armenian border. Another soldier sustained injuries.
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends its deepest condolences and support to the family and relatives of the fallen soldier and wishes a swift recovery to the wounded soldier.
“Despite the fact that the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense denied that the death of the Armenian Armed Forces soldier was a result of the actions of its units, the official statement regarding the meeting held on March 7 at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense aligns with the logic of increased aggression by Azerbaijani units. Condemning the killing of the Armenian Armed Forces soldier, we find it necessary to emphasize that this and similar incidents, along with the periodic violations of the ceasefire regime, further justify the need for a mirrored withdrawal of troops from the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and the deployment of an observational mission in the border area. We also consider it important for the international community to properly assess the provocative actions and statements of Azerbaijan,” the statement from the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads.
