Ukrainian Parliament Appeals to the UN for Deployment of Peacekeepers
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has appealed to the United Nations and other international organizations requesting the deployment of peacekeepers in the country. The lawmakers have asked UN Secretary-General António Guterres to mediate in resolving the conflict.
According to news.ru, this was announced in a statement on the parliament's Telegram channel. “The parliament has supported the call directed to the UN, ICRC, the European Parliament, and international organizations… What does the Verkhovna Rada demand from the global community? To send UN peacekeeping forces to Ukraine based on the General Assembly's resolution ‘Uniting for Peace’ from November 3, 1950,” the statement reads.
It is important to recall that on the morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation for the demilitarization of Ukraine.
