Former Prosecutor Linked to Murderers' Gang and Ordered the Killing of Her Sister's Husband in Russia

The court sentenced former Vladikavkaz prosecutor Olga Shvetsova to 12 years in prison for ordering the murder of her sister's ex-husband. This has been reported by Russian media outlets and Telegram channels.

According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, in 2012, Shvetsova personally asked Aslan Gagiyev (Jako), the leader of Russia's most notorious murder gang, to 'remove' investigator Alexander Leonov. The former prosecutor ordered the murder because investigator Leonov wanted to divorce her pregnant sister. The former couple owned significant assets, which would be subject to division in court.

It turned out that Leonov's ex-wife had repeatedly threatened him, but he ignored the threats and did not report them to the police. Soon after, the investigator was discovered dead in his backyard.

In December 2019, Shvetsova was arrested and charged. She denies her guilt. Jako is currently in custody, and the leader of the murder gang faces a life sentence. Aslan Gagiyev's gang is attributed with the murders of 60 people, including police officers, officials, and businesspeople. One of the gang's victims was Kazbek Pagiyev, the Deputy Prime Minister of North Ossetia.
