Google Prevents Phishing Attacks by Russian-Speaking Hackers Against YouTube Bloggers
Google has thwarted phishing attacks organized by Russian-speaking hackers targeting YouTube bloggers. According to a report by RBK, citing the company's blog, these attacks were carried out by a group of hackers recruited from a Russian-language forum.
The attackers lured their potential victims with fake collaboration offers sent via email, impersonating legitimate companies. Google noted that many bloggers post their email addresses directly on their YouTube channels. The fraudulent messages contained links that activated malicious software.
When users clicked on these links, hackers stole their information, which was used to compromise their YouTube channels. Reportedly, the stolen data was later sold or utilized for cryptocurrency-related scams.
