Joe Biden and Angela Merkel Discuss the Situation in Afghanistan
President Joe Biden and Chancellor Angela Merkel have discussed the situation in Afghanistan. According to the White House, they praised the ongoing efforts of their military and civilian personnel, who are closely collaborating in Kabul to evacuate vulnerable Afghans who have tirelessly worked over the past 20 years to ensure the safety, peace, and progress of the Afghan people.
The two leaders also addressed the need for coordination of humanitarian assistance for vulnerable individuals in the country. Biden and Merkel agreed to continue planning this work during the upcoming virtual meeting of G7 partners.
