Cities with the Cleanest Air in Europe
The Swedish city of Umeå has taken the top position in the ranking of European cities with the cleanest air. This ranking was compiled by the European Environment Agency, as reported by euro-pulse.ru.
The assessment of air cleanliness was based on the concentration of particulate matter; the lower the concentration, the cleaner the air.
The European cities with the cleanest air are:
- Umeå, Sweden
- Tampere, Finland
- Funchal, Portugal
- Tallinn, Estonia
- Bergen, Norway
- Uppsala, Sweden
- Narva, Estonia
- Salamanca, Spain
- Stockholm, Sweden
- Tartu, Estonia
The most polluted air was found in Nowy Sącz (Poland), Cremona (Italy), and Slavonski Brod (Croatia).
The air quality was assessed in 323 cities across Europe, with 127 of them rated as good. The agency notes that air quality in Europe has significantly improved in recent years.
