UN Could Be Involved in Ensuring the Return of Refugees in Artsakh, Zakharova
The Russian Federation's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is set to meet with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, on June 28. According to Armenpress, this information was disclosed by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a press briefing.
Zakharova noted that the High Commissioner will be in Moscow for a working visit for the second time on June 28. She added that the agenda for the meeting is expected to cover a wide range of issues, including the international protection of refugees, internally displaced persons, and stateless individuals.
“The focus will be on the potential involvement of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in the processes of ensuring the return of refugees and internally displaced persons in Artsakh and surrounding areas, as well as the international community's efforts aimed at the repatriation of Syrians, and providing support to refugees and internally displaced persons from Donbas,” Zakharova mentioned.
She also added that the High Commissioner's visit to Russia will contribute to the further development of multilateral cooperation and interaction with the UN office.
