Response of Electric Networks of Armenia to Veolia Water Company

The Electric Networks of Armenia supplies electricity to numerous industrial enterprises operating in Armenia, including irrigation and water supply companies. Recently, they have not received any complaints regarding voltage deviations. This was stated in a press release by the Electric Networks of Armenia.

In response to the latest message from Veolia Water LLC, which stated that interruptions in the operation of several pumping stations in the water supply system were caused by fluctuations in electricity voltage, the Electric Networks of Armenia noted the following: according to the international technical standard (GOST 32144-2013), the positive/negative deviations of voltage should not exceed 10%.

Veolia Water cited the reduction in voltage at the “Shor-shor” source pumping station, indicating a drop from 6000 V to 5484 V, and mentioned that only one of the four pumps is operating. Firstly, there is a normative allowable deviation present in this case, and second, if one pump is operational, the other three can still function. The pumps either activate or do not based on voltage deviations, and the number of pumps here does not matter. The same can be said for the other examples mentioned in their message.

Regarding the complaint about voltage deviations in the electric supply over the past 15 days lodged by Veolia Water, it should be noted that the Electric Networks of Armenia supplies electricity to numerous industrial enterprises, irrigation, and other water supply companies, and they have not received any complaints regarding voltage deviations recently. Moreover, some of our employees contacted the customer service center of Veolia Water yesterday to clarify the reason for the water outages at various addresses and were informed that the cause was voltage deviations, yet they had the opportunity to measure the voltage and found no deviations.

The Electric Networks of Armenia is ready to provide support and professional consulting services to Veolia Water for the restoration of the normal operation of the pumping stations if necessary,” the statement concludes.
