Shooting Occurs Near Capitol Building

A man drove a vehicle into a checkpoint near the Capitol building, after which gunshots were heard. A shooting has occurred near the U.S. Capitol building, according to reports from MSNBC citing emergency services.

“At least one person has been shot near the U.S. Capitol,” stated a message from the network on Twitter.

Earlier, the Capitol Police reported that an unknown individual had rammed a vehicle into a checkpoint near the U.S. Congress building and drove the vehicle towards two officers, who were hospitalized with varying degrees of injuries. The suspect has been apprehended.
