VIDEO: Ara Aivazian Meets with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Iraq
On March 25, Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian met with Jumaa Inad Saadun Khattab, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Iraq. Welcoming the Iraqi delegation, Minister Aivazian expressed satisfaction with the high level of relations based on centuries of Armenian-Iraqi friendship.
The interlocutors emphasized the importance of deepening military and security dialogue between Armenia and Iraq, both expressing the belief that close cooperation in these areas would positively impact the maintenance of regional stability and peace.
The ministers addressed a broad range of regional security issues. Minister Aivazian drew his counterpart's attention to Turkey's direct involvement in the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, expressing concern over the deployment of foreign armed terrorists and mercenaries in the conflict zone by Turkey. In this context, the necessity for close cooperation between the two countries in combating terrorism in various formats was highlighted.
