Arman Tatoyan: This Is a Discriminatory Project Aimed at Restricting the Activities of the Human Rights Defender
“I consider this a discriminatory project aimed at restricting the activities of the Human Rights Defender,” stated the Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan, responding to the government's proposal to reduce the office's funding.
Tatoyan noted that if cuts were being made in other state-funded agencies, they would understand that budget-related issues were the cause; however, they have examined the situation and such a trend does not exist.
He emphasized that the Human Rights Defender’s office operates under an extremely heavy workload, receiving approximately 3,000 complaints in a month, and that the allocated funds are almost entirely used to pay salaries.
