Russia's Foreign Ministry Unaware of Borrell's Intention to Visit Navalny
The Russian Foreign Ministry is unaware of the intention of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell to meet with Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny during his visit to Moscow from February 4-6. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in an interview with the Dozhd television channel, as reported by TASS.
“This question should be directed to Borrell and the organizers of his visit. I am not aware of such intentions,” she said.
Zakharova reminded that during the visit of the EU's chief diplomat, “Russia-EU relations will be discussed.”
“There are many opportunities for cooperation in these relations, although there are also plenty of issues to address. I believe that the issue of human rights will be raised as well. There is much to talk about with the EU,” she added.
