A New Trap is Being Set: Davit Ishkhanyan Talks about Vitaly Balasanyan's Absence from Joint Security Council Meetings
The Republic of Armenia has been unable to assume the true role of a guarantor of security for Artsakh, and today, the security guarantees are under serious question—merely relying on Russian peacekeepers is insufficient. This was stated by Davit Ishkhanyan, the head of the Artsakh structure of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, in an interview with 'Pactivinfo'.
He assures that our people should feel the Republic of Armenia as the center for the realization of the aspirations of all Armenians, highlighting the role and influence of that guarantor. Meanwhile, there are serious concerns today that new dangers are threatening Artsakh.
In response to 'Pactivinfo's question about whether the President of Artsakh communicates information regarding discussions at the RA Security Council to political forces, and generally how they view the fact that only the President of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, is invited to the RA Security Council meetings, while the Security Council Secretary Vitaly Balasanyan is not, Ishkhanyan noted that this is concerning, especially considering that Arayik Harutyunyan issued a statement on December 16, stating that all important issues should receive the Security Council's approval.
‘In my opinion, another process is taking place here. The participation of Arayik Harutyunyan in the Security Council meetings without Security Secretary Vitaly Balasanyan indicates that there are issues and closed discussions occurring that tend to impose a new threat over Artsakh—similar to the continuation of the November 9 statement. Artsakh’s President Arayik Harutyunyan should be cautious not to fall into this trap again. It is evident that a new trap is being set; otherwise, Vitaly Balasanyan would be participating in the joint Security Council meetings and addressing the concerns,’ said our interlocutor.
