A Criminal Case has been Initiated regarding the Tragic Accident on the Meghri-Yerevan Highway
On August 9, 2020, around 16:00, two vehicles, a Mercedes-Benz Actros 4141 and a Toyota 4Runner, collided on the 199th km section of the Meghri-Yerevan highway. As a result of the accident, the driver of the Toyota 4Runner, a 48-year-old resident of Yerevan, his 36-year-old wife, and their two minor children sustained fatal injuries.
This information comes from the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. In connection with the incident, a criminal case has been initiated in the Sisian investigative department of the Syunik regional investigative administration under Article 242, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, concerning violations of traffic safety rules leading to the death of two or more people due to negligence.
The investigation has been entrusted to an investigative team, and examinations of the accident scene, vehicles, and corpses have been carried out. Forensic medical examinations, forensic autopsies, forensic-technical, and technical complex examinations have been appointed, and several individuals have been interrogated.
Measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances surrounding the case. The pretrial investigation is ongoing.
