Car Has Fallen into Lake Sevan; Driver Rescued by Local Forces
On March 17, at 17:45, the National Center for Crisis Management received a report that a car had fallen into Lake Sevan near the Akhtamar statue in the village of Tsovagyugh, Gegharkunik province, and there was a victim.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations' press service reported that an operational group from the regional rescue department was dispatched to the scene. It was established that a BMW vehicle (driver: Sayat M., born 1979) had left the roadway at the 71st kilometer of the Yerevan-Dilijan highway and overturned into Lake Sevan, which is 70 cm deep. Special equipment was needed to retrieve the car from the water.
Before the arrival of the rescuers, the driver was transported to Sevan Medical Center by local forces, where his health condition was assessed as satisfactory. The divers later retrieved the car from the water using special equipment.
