Request for the Release of Gagik Khachatryan and His Nephew

A recent appeal has been filed against the first instance court's decision to detain former Chairman of the State Revenue Committee Gagik Khachatryan and his nephew Karen Khachatryan. This was stated by their defense attorney Amram Makinyan in response to a question from "Haykakan Zhamank." The defense side demands that the first instance court's decision be overturned and that Gagik Khachatryan and his nephew be released.

It is noteworthy that Gagik Khachatryan is charged with abuse of official powers and large-scale embezzlement, while Karen Khachatryan is charged with large-scale embezzlement as well. The National Security Service detained both Khachatryans on the evening of August 27. On the same day, searches were conducted in the areas owned by the Khachatryans.
