Insect found in bread and days of poor potato puree: soldier publishes photos from the dining hall

While Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan posts photos stating that the food provided to soldiers is excellent and proudly declares that this is how New Armenia feeds its soldiers, a soldier from military unit N has sent a letter to Tert.am, along with photos, to show the actual quality of food they are currently being served.

“An insect in the bread and poorly made potato puree for days—this is how New Armenia is feeding its soldiers, Mr. Prime Minister. In the unit where I serve, there are quite significant shortcomings that no one is paying attention to. For 10 days now, we have been served very bad potato puree for breakfast and dinner, and we have even found an insect in it. We also found the same insect in the bread, which I photographed. The socks and underwear provided to soldiers are not distributed properly and we have no idea where they are,” the soldier noted alongside the photos.

It is recalled that earlier Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had published a photo of a plate sent to him by Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan with the caption “Mercy,” informing that this is how New Armenia feeds its soldiers.

In an interview with Tert.am, military expert Van Hambardzumyan commented on the issue raised by the soldier, stating that the quality of food provided to soldiers is not only unacceptable but also disgraceful and condemnable, and should be one of the most important issues on Nikol Pashinyan's agenda. “In Armenia, one can bow before anyone standing on the front line. Imagine, when you are facing a heavily armed Azerbaijan, where the situation can escalate at any moment, as the war is not over, in those conditions the state should at least take on all the problems of an 18-year-old so that the soldier can concentrate on combat duty. The discovery of such things in the soldiers' food leaves me speechless; this is not only unacceptable, it is disgraceful and condemnable. This is shameful; it is the same as desecrating the memory of the April victims,” he stated.
