Smart Bus Stops to Be Installed in Ejmiatsin

The Mayor of Ejmiatsin, Diana Gasparyan, announced on her Facebook page that the city plans to have "smart bus stops."

“The stops will feature the following capabilities:
- Ventilation (with heating in winter and cooling in summer),
- Charging for electronic devices,
- Free Wi-Fi,
- Information about public places,
- Information on arrival times of public transport,
- Necessary information for tourists,
- Vendoring machines for coffee and snacks,
- Advertising,
- A stand for free announcements,
- Trash bins designed for waste sorting.

The plan is to build 6-8 such stops within the next year. Construction of the first stop has already begun and it is expected to be installed within a month. I would also like to inform you that the initiative for the “smart bus stops” was taken by the city hall and after negotiations with private sector companies, it has been decided that no funds from the city budget will be allocated for their construction. This means that the city hall will allocate only the area under a long-term contract, while the construction costs will be covered by the private company,” Gasparyan stated.
