Only 35% of UK Residents Support Early Elections in the Country

Only a third of Britons support holding early general elections prior to the United Kingdom's exit from the EU (Brexit), according to a poll conducted by YouGov and reported by The Times on September 4.

According to the survey's findings, only 35% of residents in the UK expressed support for early elections, while 46% of respondents were opposed to the initiative. An additional 19% of respondents were unable to give a definitive answer to the question.

Supporters of holding elections are primarily younger individuals, whereas opponents tend to be those aged 65 and older.

During the survey, sociologists also assessed how Britons would vote in the event of early elections. The results indicated that approximately 35% of UK residents would support the Conservatives, while 25% would cast their vote for the Labour Party. Support for the Liberal Democrats would come from 16% of participants, while the Brexit Party and the Green Party would receive 13% and 8% of the votes, respectively, as reported by TASS.
