Details on Sand Theft and Mountain Destruction Incident in Kotayk Province

Unknown individuals are transporting sand from a mountain near the summer houses in the village of Aghbyurak, Kotayk Province. A video of the incident was sent to Radio Aurora by a listener. According to him, there was no prior notification about the sand removal from the mountain, and he claims that no one is aware of this activity.

The footage was taken yesterday. We attempted to obtain clarifications from the relevant authorities regarding the event. In a conversation with an AuroraNews.am reporter, the Hrazdan municipality stated that they were not aware of the incident and are currently taking measures to determine who the sand removers are.

The municipality reports that these individuals managed to transport two truckloads of sand from the area, but when summer residents raised the alarm, they fled. According to our source, Deputy Mayor Varujan Safaryan indicated that there is no authorization for such activities in that area. It appears that the unknown individuals chose this location, considering it is far from the village, thus allowing them to remain unnoticed.
