Meeting to be Organized with Ms. Zonabend through Responsible Authority: Government
The government of Armenia has expressed its willingness to organize a meeting with Veronica Zonabend, the wife of Ruben Vardanyan, who is being held illegally in Baku, through the responsible authority. In response to a written inquiry from News.am, the executive informed that contact has been established with Ms. Zonabend, and the contact details of the relevant official have been provided to arrange a meeting at her convenience.
It is noteworthy that Veronica Zonabend had addressed a public letter to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on July 8, expressing her intention to travel to Baku as part of an international humanitarian delegation of women. In a response from the government on August 5, it was stated that they were aware of the issues raised in Ms. Zonabend's open letter.
“Considering the sensitivity of these issues, the Government is willing to organize a meeting with Ms. Zonabend through the responsible authority to address the raised concerns, as well as to present the steps and actions taken regarding the return of our compatriots held in captivity in Azerbaijan and the protection of their rights,” the response sent to the website stated. The relevant authority mentioned in the response is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
