Tragic Car Accident in Kotayk Province: Pregnant Woman Dies in Hospital

On June 12, a serious and tragic car accident occurred in Kotayk Province. At around 1:00 PM, the driver of a Volkswagen Vento with license plate 55 VP 581 lost control while traveling on the Yerevan-Sevan highway at the 25 km mark, near the beginning of the Chayni bends. The vehicle veered off the roadway and collided with a concrete barrier, then continued forward and struck a concrete wall, partially ending up in the middle of the road.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan on site, the driver and two passengers, one of whom was a pregnant woman, were taken to the Abovyan Medical Center. As reported by shamshyan.com, citizens and quickly arriving emergency rescue workers were the first to provide assistance to the injured.

While investigators and Senior Investigator Vahe Harutunyan from the 3rd Battalion of the 2nd Police Unit were working at the scene, the hospital reported that the pregnant woman among the injured had died.
