Sasun Mikayelyan to Resign as Head of the CP Party Board
The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that 'Civil Contract', the ruling party, is expected to undergo personnel and statutory changes in the near future. Among the members of the CP Board, MP Vahagn Hakobyan leads the group working on draft revisions of the statutes, while Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly Lena Nazaryan heads the working group focused on new program variants.
Additionally, following his election as President of the Union of Volunteer Detachments, Sasun Mikayelyan announced his intention to resign from the position of the head of the 'Civil Contract' party's board in May, to prevent the UVD from becoming politicized.
In an interview with 'Zhoghovurd', Vahagn Hakobyan mentioned that in the case of Mikayelyan's resignation, Vice-President Suren Papikyan will lead the party until they convene a new congress to elect a new board and board president. 'This means we are not compelled to hastily organize elections for the board president because there is a vice president who carries out the responsibilities in the absence of the board president.' The CP congress is likely to be held in the summer, although a specific date has yet to be determined.
