The Judge in the Case of the Catholicos and Bishops Has Applied to the Court of Cassation

The judicial system has informed "Factinfo" that the court has appealed to the Court of Cassation in accordance with Article 263, Part 4 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

This specific part of the article states that the court, prior to scheduling preliminary hearings, has the right to challenge its jurisdiction by decision regarding the received appeal. In such a case, the issue of jurisdiction is definitively resolved within five days by the decision of the president of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation.

The criminal court of Yerevan received the criminal case from the Armavir regional court as an appeal on September 1, following the decision of Judge S. Rushanyan of the Armavir regional first instance court dated August 28. Judge Rushanyan had taken on the case on August 14.

Prior to this, the case was transferred to another judge of the same court, H. Manukyan. On August 7, the Armavir regional first instance court had decided to refuse jurisdiction in the criminal case.
