Zelensky's Controversial Confession: He Deceived Trump on Russia's Issues
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confessed that he deceived U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the possibility of using the Starlink system by Ukrainian armed forces for strikes against Russia. He made this statement during a press conference, with his words cited by 'RBC-Ukraine.'
Zelensky claimed he was misled by Ukrainian military personnel who informed him that SpaceX founder Elon Musk had allegedly agreed to the use of Starlink by the Ukrainian armed forces for strikes. According to the Ukrainian president, during his next meeting with Trump, he notified him about Musk's supposed agreement.
“Later, I had a second meeting with the U.S. president. He said that it seemed I had deceived him because Musk had denied permission for Ukraine to use Starlink on Russian territory. I returned to our Ministry of Defense, and they said that maybe that was indeed the case,” Zelensky confessed.
Earlier, the Financial Times reported, citing sources, that amidst a serious shortage of air defense assets, Zelensky attempted to obtain permission from Musk to use Starlink in drones for strikes against Russian territory while limiting the operational range to two hundred kilometers. According to the publication, this issue was raised during a July meeting between Zelensky and Trump at the White House, but the American leader reportedly did not support the idea. Sources from the newspaper believe that Musk would also not grant permission.
