The Church Is a Tool for Money Laundering: Pashinyan

During a speech from the National Assembly podium, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan once again addressed the questions he raised about the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Supreme Patriarch of All Armenians, Garegin II. According to Pashinyan, if Garegin II, along with Katich Nersisyan, accepts the agenda he proposed, he is ready to meet and discuss it.
“If Garegin II or Katich Nersisyan accepts this agenda, I will formally sit down and discuss it with great respect,” Pashinyan said, emphasizing the necessity of adhering to the principles of morality.

The Prime Minister assessed that the national values in Armenia are deformed, and that “the holiest of the holy has been desecrated.”
“Yes, 90 percent believe in God, but the head of the church does not believe,” Pashinyan stated, quoting passages from the Gospel of Matthew in his remarks.

Pashinyan also asserted that for certain circles, the church has become a mechanism, a “tool for money laundering.”

Addressing the opposition, the Prime Minister stated, “Is it not legitimate? Resign your mandates, go make a revolution. We have shown the ways too.” He raised the question of why the opposition does not take that path, insisting that they understand they are “delegates on assignment.”
